Consider Shingles Vaccine to Prevent Possible Hearing Loss

Many people rarely think about hearing loss as one of the complications of common viruses including shingles.

The CDC recommends two doses of the vaccine to prevent shingles and its complications in adults 50 years and older. Shingrix is also recommended for adults 19 years and older who have weakened immune systems because of disease or therapy.

Most private insurances and Medicare Part D as of this year will cover the cost of the shingles vaccine. We recommend you consider shingles' complications including possible hearing loss and talk to your physician for recommendations regarding vaccination.
